2015 Canyon Crawl–9th grade Physical Science

Another successful field trip with no students damaged or lost!  9th grade Physical Science finally got their 8th grade Earth Science field trip I owed them as we ventured into the wilds of Providence Canyon State Park near Lumpkin, Georgia.  We saw firsthand the combined effects of erosion and early 20th century farming practices, the Law of Superposition in real life, and natural deposits of kaolin & hematite…and had a lot of fun getting dirty on “the Canyon Crawl” as my kids dubbed it.
